Bass Rig

Been fiendishly building in the garage. Got the outrigger cut and fitted, though not glued or painted yet. The finished product will be sprayed marine grey so not to stand out quite so much. I changed the plans around a bit, and this will not only balance the side-mounted motor, but allow pretty stable stand-up, and I can run a cargo net or a solid deck between the outrigger struts as well as mount a horizontal rod rack. I still need to cut down the vertical risers on the pontoon, and I will leave enough to raise the pontoon flush with the gunnels when I retract it, or lower them flush with the bottom of the boat to compensate for weight on the cargonet area. It is also designed to fully retract in to the boat via 2 sleaves that will be mounted on the canoe beams and locked in place with hitch pins. I've reversed the seating for going out solo to better center the weight, but everything can be fairly easily reversed. I have a fold down seat, which puts my legs comfortably up above the bar in front of me. My wife thinks I have far too much time on my hands and is probably working on a longer to-do list for my next vacation week.

This is what happens when you are left at home for a week with the wife and kids gone all day. You start doing crap just to see if you can. I told my wife she would have to video the first outing so I could either prove my genius or have something to submit to those dumbest people video shows. All that's left is some paint so it isn't quite so ugly. Below are some close-ups of the attached pontoons and the sleeves to extend it. The top caps aren't glued so that I can disassemble the rig.

looks pretty rock-solid to me..i think the only thing you would ever have to worry about is the water level....you should be able to stand up in it.....if you can, that would mean you could really have the benefit of both worlds

and the steel reinforcement on your motor mount looks freakin awesome.....
i got portable nav lights for my boat, so i imagine we will be going nite fishing for stripes this year....a good friend gave me some little known tips, and i want to try them out.
