Speed Jigging

Post by RedneckAngler on Sun Jan 25, 2009 8:02 pm

Been reading a lot about the technique, which I have not used before. Everything has just been the standard jigging with the metal and a baitcast settup. I've got the heavy Penn Spinfisher 950 reel, but would need to get a rod designed for this purpose. It's supposed to be great for Tuna, but also works for big bass and blues. Several articles in On the Water. Always want to try and add a new dimension as it is just one more gun in the arsenal. I'm a firm believer in being prepared to try anything and everything to catch fish, as opposed to relying on 1-2 techniques. That's why I try to avoid charters that "fish nothing but..." Going to go to the exclusively fishing show in February at the convention center and pick some of the guys brains on this and some of the surf fishing in MA. Maybe get a chance to play around with some different techniques on the Bluefish Bash.
