Heckler asked about modifications to his gun, so I decided to post a little something about modifying a Glock. I am trying to make this Glock 23 (40 S&W caliber) an ultimate everyday carry gun. I am attending a Glock Armorer's course in January so I thought I would buy some parts and install them myself once I took the course. It will be nice not to have to pay my gunsmith for work I can do myself. (and offer to any other interested parties)

Here is the stock Glock.

There is an opening on the bottom of the Glock that a lanyard would be attached to. If not used, it can fill with dust and debris. A easy fix is a "Slug Plug," which is a plastic plug. It also aids in magazine insertion.

Installed

The other items have to be installed after my class. If you change the connector, your can change the amount of pounds it takes to pull the trigger. This particular one will decrease the trigger pull from 5.5 pounds to 3.5 pounds. Extended magazine release and extended slide release are exactly what they sound like. They make releasing the slide and magazine easier for those of us with smaller hands.

Not pictured (but seen in my other post) is the Streamlight TLR-1 weapon light. I need to order a Blade-Tech holster for the gun/weapon light, but might upgrade to a Surefire weapon light before I do. (If anyone needs flashlights, Surefire is the way to go!) I have to do a little more research to pick my next modifications.

Installation report to follow........

So I attended the armorers on Jan. 8th and it was interesting. The Glock platform seems to be very easy to maintain, disassemble and diagnose. My parts were installed in less than 10 minutes. I wish I took this course years ago. If anyone has a Glock, my services are free to members here. Very Happy

I know.... it's been so cold I haven't gone at all. Hopefully it will start warming up soon.

Blue Trails has been ongoing off and on for the rifle ranges. It was again in the paper in '09 as more stray rounds have been found after it initially reopened and further injunctions filed to close it down. Short of intentionally firing over the mountain behind the range, I don't know how rounds would wind up on the Durham side. A deflection would be spent. Their website says all ranges open with the exception of high powered rifles.
